MEET THE INSTRUCTORS
Jeanelle Dech is president and co-founder of Adaptive Textiles, an innovative textile printing company in West Chester, PA. She is a friendly and engaging speaker, known for her love of natural linen fabric, Fit-Like-a-Glove slipcovers, SPEED sewing method, and workroom profitability training. She has served as an officer and national board member of WCAA. In 2015, she launched The Workroom Channel, which hosts a series of online training programs and hands-on events for sewing professionals. Just this year, Jeanelle added pattern printing to the repertoire. Adaptive Textiles is now the proud parent company to both, M'Fay Patterns and The Workroom Channel.
Cynthia Bleskachek has been working as a professional upholsterer since 2001 and teaching since 2010. In 2008 she won a first place craftsmanship award through The Upholstery Journal for a tufted chair.
She's presented at several events for the Professional Upholsterers Association of Minnesota and currently serves as Education Chair. Cynthia was a featured presenter at the 2015 Minneapolis Junk Bonanza, with appearances on Kare 11 and Fox 9.
In 2016, she opened The Funky Little Chair in Minnesota in order to focus on upholstery education.
Terri Booser shares 28 years of industry knowledge in the areas of window treatment design and fabrication. She has extensive experience as an educator and speaker including nine years with the Custom Home Furnishings Academy as an instructor and director. In 2017, she and business partner, Rachel Barrera, launched Sugar & Spice Draperies and Shades, LLC. They service retail and wholesale clients in the Houston area. Terri is the Construction Zone Coordinator for the International Window Coverings Expo (IWCE-Vision) as well as the director of the Window Fashions Artisan Project. She is a WFCP Expert, WCAA member, and the Vice President of the Houston Area Custom Drapery Association.
Donna Cash, a custom soft furnishings designer, fabricator, and teacher, is the owner of Designs by Donna, a drapery and soft home furnishings fabrication studio in Flowery Branch, GA. Known for her meticulous attention to detail, Donna uses her passions, gifts, and abilities to bring joy and beauty into the lives of others through exquisite design, teaching, and sharing. Donna works with both designer and retail clients. Donna offers online and hands-on education to workroom professionals and others who are interested in expanding their sewing skills or to increase their product offerings and profits. Donna has also started the Saturday Sewing School to share her passion for sewing with children. She balances her schedule and life through her yoga practice and quality family time.
Elki Horn opened Interior Elegance by Elki (located in Wayne, NJ) in 1993, after a nine-year collaboration with Calico Corners and a prior career as a dental hygienist. She is a master at workroom-designer communication. She has been a mentor to many starting workroom businesses and is passionate about sharing her methods and systems with others to increase workroom productivity and profit.
Ann K. Johnson owns Sew Easy Windows LLC, a wholesale workroom in Ohio, established in 1992. She is the author of The Professional Workroom Handbook of Swags I & II, and publisher for Kitty Stein's Price Your Work With Confidence! Ann offers private workroom training, seminars, and hands-on classes in workroom fabrication, pattern drafting, efficiency and pricing. Her topics are always fully packed with time saving tips and techniques, delivered in a relaxed and light-hearted style. Find information at seweasywindows.com. Pamela Lin owns The Sophisticated Touch, a window coverings and soft furnishings studio in Snellville, Ga. Before come in to the U.S. from Taiwan in 1982, Pamela was a printed circuit board layout designer and technician. These graphics skills help her today with scaled drawings, window design and fabrication. Pamela has been published in Drapery & Design Professional magazine, is a member of the Designers Workroom Council, and is treasurer of WCAA’s Atlanta chapter.
Cathy shares 28 years in the Custom Window Industry Profession. She was the owner and manager of Tucks' Pleat Draperies for 21 years. Cathy has been a featured speaker at Detroit Workroom Association meetings, WCCA events and was the lead instructor for a Career Professional Program at the CHF Academy for 9 years. Cathy is a master at fabricating draperies, upholstered cornices, soft cornices and headboards. She offers private and group training through the Workroom Channel and travels the country offering her Professional Workroom Temp Service which provides hourly expert labor to help other workrooms manage large jobs, and clear back logs.
Michele is the owner of Scarlet Thread Consulting and is a strategic business coach who is fiercely committed to guiding creative business owners in the understanding of complex business concepts and processes in a simplified way. She strives to help her clients be profitable which allows for a healthier work-life balance. With a degree from The University of South Carolina in Management Information Systems and Administrative Management along with a background in financial software design and development coupled with owning her own creative business for 17 years, Michele has been able to bring financial understanding and process development to creative business owners with much success. Michele has a degree in Coaching and is a Profit First Certified Coach. Michele is a member of WCAA, Designers Workroom Council, Design Collective and WFCP.
Susan Woodcock owns Home Dec Gal, a how-to sewing resource and custom workroom in Western North Carolina, and is a Bluprint (formerly Craftsy) instructor and international speaker. Susan’s publishing credits include Singer® Sewing Custom Curtains, Shades and Top Treatments. Together with her husband, Rodger Walker, Susan co-produces the Custom Workroom Conference, an annual educational event and trade show. In 2017, Susan and Rodger founded Custom Workroom Technical Center or “Workroom Tech”, a hands-on training facility dedicated to the workroom industry. She credits her mother with teaching her to sew and inspiring her career of creativity.
