Minimal sewing experience is required for this introductory course on Window Treatment design and fabrication. Learn how professionals make the beautiful shades, drapery panels and top treatments that are introduced in the book, SEWING CUSTOM by Susan Woodcock. Beginning with project planning, materials sourcing and foundational techniques, Jeanelle will demonstrate the making of two custom window treatment projects. The second session includes a tour of the professional workroom at Adaptive Textiles in West Chester, PA. Sessions three and four provide instructor guided workshop time to get started on personal project. All tools are provided, but if you have a favorite pair of scissors, please bring them to the second session.

Join Jeanelle Dech in her workroom at Adaptive Textiles, as she shares the development of S.P.E.E.D.  Jeanelle's new trademarked approach for self-evaluation, method discovery and ongoing improvement. Using several projects as practical examples, attendees will follow the five S.P.E.E.D. steps to explore and establish their own BEST METHOD of fabrication. Then, learn to document and organize the method discoveries for quick reference and sharing. If you are looking for a helpful approach to dramatically improve your fabrication time on any project, this is it!!

Cushions and Pillows, Indoor and Out!

Live class through the Chester County Night School taught by Jeanelle Dech. 

Four sessions: The first session will at Henderson High School in West Chester, PA on March 30th from 6pm-9pm. The following three sessions will be on April 13th, April 20th, and April 27th at Adaptive Textiles in West Chester, PA.

Bring a camera and notebook to the first session to document the step-by-step fabrication of box cushions and welted-edge pillows. Instruction includes professional techniques for fabric selection, cutting, covering welt cord, zipper insertion, and fill options for indoor and outdoor applications.

Sessions two, three and four will include instructor-guided workshop time (at Adaptive Textiles in West Chester, PA) so that students can get their own project underway. No sewing experience required.

Materials Fee:  (Optional) Foam, pillow inserts, and miscellaneous workroom materials will be available for purchase during the workshop sessions.
